Rare Magnum (1.5L bottle) of Chappellets top-scoring 2016 Signature Cabernet - limited.
It's tough to make a case for a better Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon at this price point. The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been Chappellet's flagship wine for more than four decades. It is a benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley. Location on Pritchard Hill is everything as the neighbors of this property include Colgin and Bryant Family. The wine has a phenomenally dense core of blueberry and cassis fruit accented by that dusty, roasted earth component, and the tannin and acidity to serve it well in the cellar.
93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):"The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature is plump, racy and super-expressive. Raspberry jam, spice, mocha, blood orange and pomegranate are all given an extra kick of textural richness. Unctuous and bold, the 2017 offers tons of near- and medium-term appeal. This is a terrific effort. The Signature Cabernet remains one of the very best Napa Valley wines in its price range."
92 Jeb Dunnuck: "The larger production cuvée is the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature, which checks in as 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10 % Petit Verdot, and the balance Malbec. This cuvée is normally relatively easy to find in the market and it's always a good value. The 2017 doesn't break that trend, offering up loads of black and blue fruits intermixed with lots of mountain scrub brush, crushed rocks, cedary herbs, and earth. It's medium to full-bodied, nicely textured, has considerable elegance, and a great finish."
