94 Points Jeb Dunnuck:
"More inky purple-colored, the 100% Syrah 2017 Nuts & Bolts was brought up 18 months in 83% new French oak. Tons of meaty, barbecue, spice, chocolate, and assorted dark fruits emerge from the glass, and this puppy packs a punch on the palate, with full-bodied richness, a stacked mid-palate, ripe, sweet tannins, no hard edges, and a rocking finish. Drink this meaty, spicy, peppery powerhouse of a Syrah over the coming 7-8 years."

93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous):  "Dark purple. Powerful, smoke- and spice-accented aromas of ripe blackberry, cherry liqueur, vanilla and olive paste are lifted by a suave, building floral element. Sweet, seamless and deeply concentrated, offering plush black and blue fruit preserve, cherry-vanilla, mocha and floral pastille flavors that spread out steadily on the back half. The sweet, pliant, impressively long finish is given shape by slow-building tannins that fold slowly into the wine's lush dark fruit. 83% new French oak."

Robert Parker: "One of my favorite estates in the Central Coast is Russell From's Herman Story, who makes unapologetic rich, layered, flavor loaded wines that are a joy to drink."

Brix26 Inside Scoop: There are some fantastic small labels coming out of the Paso Robles wine country in California's Central Coast, and Herman Story winery is our latest "crush" (pun intended).  The style of wines are full-throttle, fruit forward bombastic style while keeping things balanced and delicious.  Like going right up to the point of over-the-top and stopping perfectly before it.  The 2014 Nuts & Bolts Syrah is a beautiful example of what small, hands-on winemakers like Herman Story are achieving with the varietal in Paso Robles.
