92 Points - great buy
Robert Parker has called Caravina, "perhaps the best second wine in all of Napa Valley", and we agree. One of the best Cabs under $60 we've found.
93 Points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "Aromatically expressive and beautifully layered in the glass, the 2014 delivers superb quality and pedigree for the money. Smoke, cedar, tobacco, graphite, tar, licorice and dried herbs add the closing shades of nuance. Caravina remains one of the very best values in Napa Valley Cabernet."
90 Points Robert Parker: "The new releases include the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Caravina, which is 95% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance equal parts Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 2013 is outstanding, with a deep purple color, a sweet nose of chocolate, dusty, loamy soil notes, a touch of roasted herbs, silky tannins and a medium to full-bodied, very sexy and lush style. Drink over the next 12-15+ years. French consultant Philippe Melka has done a fabulous job getting the tannins under control, and since he has been in charge, the wines are consistently brilliant."
